The current scenario of the botanical collections in the municipality of Vitória da Conquista, Bahia, Brazil is presented. The information was obtained through consultations to virtual databases, bibliographic references, and fieldwork. So far, the flora includes 1.057 species distributed in 950 angiosperms, 38 pteridophytes (lycophytes and ferns) and 69 bryophytes (mosses and liverworts). Among these, 36 species are threatened with extinction, 101 are new occurrences in Bahia and six are endemic to the municipality. The data collected here demonstrate the need to deepen the understanding of the flora of the municipality, in order to direct the actions that contribute to the conservation of the region's flora, through systematic collections, improve the quality of identification, as well as enrich the botanical collections and production of taxonomic monographs
