This study investigated the roost fidelity of the tovacucú (Grallaria varia) and the impacts of the increasing wild boar (Sus scrofa) population on a natural environment. Conducted between 2019 and 2020 in the Serra da Mantiqueira, São Paulo, the study observed a tovacucú individual roosting in the same location for 84 consecutive nights. However, after the wild boar population increased, the bird was no longer recorded at the roost. The growing wild boar population, which causes damage to the ecosystem, may have influenced this change. The study highlights the importance of species monitoring and the impacts of invasive species for biodiversity conservation.
